DMCA and Copyright Policy
We respect copyright and respond to notices of claimed infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). For other kinds of reports (illegal content, privacy, harassment, malware), use the report form.
1. Sending a copyright notice
The fastest way is the report form (reason: "Copyright infringement"). The content is blocked as soon as the report is filed. You may instead send a written notice to our designated agent (Section 4). A notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them;
- identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
- the content's CID (or its
https://256t.us/…URL) so we can locate it; - your contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Reports, including the explanation and links you provide, are published on the disputes page; your contact details are not published. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages.
2. What happens next
- The content is blocked (HTTP 451) while we review the notice.
- If the notice is valid, we remove the content and record the removal publicly.
- If the notice is incomplete or doesn't show infringement, we deny it and the content becomes available again.
- Reports not resolved within 30 days close automatically. [CONFIRM: for formal DMCA notices, should content stay blocked until reviewed instead?]
3. Counter-notices
If you uploaded content that was removed and believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our designated agent containing:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the CID of the removed content;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the U.S., any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the notice or their agent.
We forward valid counter-notices to the original reporter. Unless they tell us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the content (you may need to upload it again, since removed content is deleted).
4. Designated agent
[AGENT NAME]
[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]
[POSTAL ADDRESS]
Phone: [PHONE]
Email: [DMCA EMAIL]
5. Repeat infringers
We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe. An account that has [NUMBER, e.g. 3] or more copyright removals upheld against it within [PERIOD, e.g. 12 months] will be closed, and any remaining balance forfeited, subject to valid counter-notices.
